HIS JOURNEY

Melding his Christian Faith with his choreography to share the gospel through dance.

Raised in a Southern Baptist home with a brilliant pastor as a grandfather, William has been surrounded by faith. As of 2023, he is a born-again Christian who has now dedicated his life to serving the Lord and using the very thing he idolized to share his testimony.

Approximation of Resilience

William is a performing artist for The Foundry under the direction of Alex Ketley.

An Approximation of Resilience is a movement meditation on liberation and the human spirit. This deeply evocative work explores themes of dignity, perseverance, and the transformative power of art. At its heart is Bill Clark, an artist who has spent 33 years on Death Row while steadfastly maintaining his wrongful conviction. Yet, despite his circumstances, he continues to create, inspire, and embody an unbreakable sense of hope. His story is a testament to the indomitable resilience of the human spirit—and a poignant reminder never to take freedom for granted.

BIO

William Brewton Fowler Jr. is a Christian freelance dancer and emerging choreographer from Augusta, Georgia. Throughout his performing career he has worked with companies such as Zaccho Dance Theatre, Gallim Dance, dawsondancesf, Company SBB, stewart/owendance, Eight/Moves, and The Foundry. William also participated in a BAMPFA installation, slow dark dances, under the direction of Maurya Kerr. Additionally, he performed with SFBATCO for the musical "Sign My Name to Freedom" and there he began his journey into aerial dance led by Joanna Haigood. He's looking to continuing his training under Haigood's tutelage. Most recently, he joined Alex Ketley's company, The Foundry, as a performing artist for "An approximation of Resilience." He is honored to be in a work that is steeped in reality and getting to share a portion of Bill Clark's essence through dance.

As an emerging choreographer, he dedicates his creations to his faith and recently created a solo, I always saw you, for the Black Choreographers Festival's New Voices/New Works. He is also a 2024/2025 artist-in-residence for Zaccho Dance Theatre's Black Futures residency.
